White Cake

A simple white cake recipe.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup milk, room temperature
  • 6 egg whites, room temperature (about 3/4 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups cake flour, sifted
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter

INSTRUCTIONS

  1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2.  Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans (I also recommend adding a circle of parchment paper to the bottom of each pan to further ensure the cake doesn’t stick.)
  3. In a medium bowl, stir together the room temperature milk and egg whites along with the vanilla and almond extracts until blended.
